Coders Beyond Borders is a non-profit foundation in Amsterdam. We build responsible technology and community programmes with and for newcomers in the Netherlands. This page sets out who we are, how we are governed and how we use our funds.

3.1 a
Give newcomers in Europe essential technical and digital skills, including through responsible, privacy-protecting and open source technology, and help them into the tech sector and the labour market.
3.1 b
Improve access to reliable legal, civic and administrative information for newcomers and other underrepresented groups, and support referral to legal and social help.
3.1 c
Create a supportive, inclusive environment where newcomers can learn, grow and take part in society.
3.1 d
Promote employment inclusion and economic participation of newcomers, through training, mentoring, employer involvement and job creation.
3.1 e
Carry out and support research and advocacy on migration, inclusion, access to justice and responsible technology.
3.1 f
Make technology, knowledge and tools available to other organisations that serve newcomers and other underrepresented groups.
Supervisory board members serve a term of at most four years, renewable once, on a staggered rota. Membership is incompatible with employment by, paid work for, or close family ties to the director of the foundation.

Omer is a newcomer, a data scientist and a changemaker. He is the founder and director-bestuurder of Coders Beyond Borders. In his past, he built social enterprises in the circular economy, IT training and healthcare technology. His bootcamp reskilled more than 180 newcomers across Europe and today he leads Factstream AI and several community initatives.

Chair, Raad van Toezicht
Saskia brings 25 years of experience in social change. She was managing director and director of programmes at a private grant-making foundation, and has served on the board of a foundation supporting human rights, migration and women’s rights initiatives worldwide. Today she supports changemakers through her own coaching practice, and advises purpose-driven organisations on leadership and strategy.

Member, Raad van Toezicht
A lawyer with a background in international arbitration, corporate law and corporate litigation. He has acted in international commercial disputes and in inquiry proceedings before the Amsterdam Court of Appeal. He holds an LLM in corporate law from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and an LLB in Dutch law from the University of Groningen, and is a trained mediator.

Member, Raad van Toezicht
A security architect with more than 15 years in hardware and cloud security, trusted computing and secure system design. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Oxford, where he also lectured, and was a postdoctoral research fellow in the UK.
