Privacy Seminars at Tilburg University

Overview:

Coders Beyond Borders was represented at Tilburg University's Privacy Seminars, part of the university's MSc programme in AI and Cybersecurity. Our board member Dr. Ahmad Atamli delivered two sessions to an audience of students, researchers, and faculty, bringing together perspectives from Oxford, NVIDIA, and the University of Southampton in a setting where academic rigour and real-world practice met.

About the speaker:

Dr. Ahmad Atamli holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford and serves as a Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Southampton. He is also a Senior Distinguished Architect at NVIDIA, with over 20 patents and more than a decade shaping security architecture at the intersection of academia and industry. At Coders Beyond Borders, he serves as a board member and leads the organisation’s approach to responsible technology and cybersecurity.

Session themes:
  • Trust and privacy in cloud environments: How privacy can be preserved as infrastructure becomes increasingly distributed and complex.
  • Securing AI workloads: What it takes to keep sensitive data safe as AI systems grow in scale, reach, and complexity.
  • Responsible technology by design: Why privacy and security must be foundational decisions, not features added after the fact.
Impact:

At Coders Beyond Borders, privacy and security are not afterthoughts. They sit at the heart of how we think about responsible technology for social impact, and directly inform the architecture of tools like Factstream AI, which handles sensitive legal and personal information on behalf of the communities we serve. Collaborations like this one reflect our commitment to bringing world-class expertise into spaces where it matters, and to contributing to the broader conversation about trustworthy AI in Europe.

We thank Professor Júlio Mendonça and Professor Marijn van Wingerden for organising these sessions and for welcoming us to Tilburg.
